![]() ![]() Just behind the sight the parkerized receiver is marked in four lines with “U.S. Front sight is the usual blade on a raised base. The base of the sight also has a windage screw which also operates properly. The rear sight has the large flip-up leaf with a sliding appture operated by loosening and tightening a screw on the side of the appture. Barrel is stamped behind the muzzle with “H.S.” (High Standard) over a bursting bomb which in turn is over the date “12-44.” Bore is clean with good rifling but does have scattered pitting in places. The small exposed section of the barrel at the muzzle retains almost all of its original bluing. The bolt action rifle has an overall length of just over 43.00 inches. The 1903 Springfield rifle was one of the main battle weapons of American forces in World War One and in smaller numbers through World War Two.
